Cookie and Tracking Notice
Last updated 2026-07-26 · Effective 2026-07-26
In plain language
We keep tracking to a minimum. We do not run advertising cookies, we are not part of an ad network, and we do not track students for any commercial purpose.
What we do use: cookies needed to keep you signed in and secure, a live-chat widget on our marketing site, and basic usage measurement.
This notice forms part of our Privacy Policy.
2. Strictly necessary cookies
These are required for the Service to work. They cannot be switched off, because without them you could not sign in or stay signed in. We do not need consent for these, and blocking them in your browser will break the application.
- Session and authentication — keeps you signed in as you move between pages, and signs you out when you log out.
- Security — helps detect and prevent unauthorized access, session hijacking and cross-site request forgery.
- Load balancing and routing — directs your request to a working server.
- Preferences — remembers interface choices such as which school or view you last had open.
3. Live chat
Our marketing website uses Crisp to provide the live-chat widget. Crisp sets cookies and uses local storage so that a conversation persists if you navigate between pages or come back later, and so that we can tell an ongoing conversation from a new one.
If you start a chat, the message content, and any name or email you choose to give, are processed by Crisp on our behalf and are visible to our support team. Do not send student records, passwords or payment details through chat.
Blocking these cookies disables the chat widget but does not otherwise affect the site.
4. Usage measurement
We measure basic usage so we know which pages and features are used and where people run into trouble. This is aggregate and operational; we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
Separately, the application allows a school to supply its own Google Analytics tracking identifier for pages it configures. Where a school does that, the school is the controller of the resulting analytics data, the school decides what is collected, and the school is responsible for disclosing it in its own privacy notice and obtaining any consent required. We do not receive or use that data for our own purposes.
5. What we do not use
- We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies.
- We do not participate in an advertising network or exchange.
- We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
- We do not use cookies to track students, and we do not place tracking technology in the student-facing parts of the application for any purpose beyond keeping the session working and secure.
- We do not respond differently based on a third-party advertising identifier, because we do not collect one.
6. Third-party content
Some pages embed content from third parties — for example a map on a school directory listing, a scheduling widget, or images served from a content delivery network. Those providers may set their own cookies when the content loads. We do not control those cookies.
Our mobile applications do not use browser cookies. They store an authentication token on the device to keep you signed in, and register a push notification token so the school can send you alerts. Signing out removes the authentication token and deactivates the push registration.
7. How to control cookies
You can control cookies in your browser settings. Every major browser lets you see what is stored, delete it, block cookies from specific sites, or block third-party cookies entirely. Look for "Cookies", "Site data", or "Privacy and security" in your browser's settings.
Bear in mind that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in to Alif Cloud.
Most browsers also offer a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no agreed standard for how sites should respond to it, so we do not act on it. We do not track you for advertising in the first place. Where a recognized opt-out preference signal applies to a right we are required to honour, we will honour it.
On mobile you can disable push notifications in your device settings, or from within the app.
8. Changes to this notice
We will update this notice if we change the technologies we use. The "Last updated" date above shows when it last changed. If we ever introduce a category of cookie that requires consent, we will ask for it before setting the cookie.
